Personalized piano instruction for students age 4 through adult in a private studio in southeast Grand Rapids.
At Eger Piano Studio, music is something students hear, feel, understand, create, and play — not simply decode from a page.
Lessons move through all of these — not always in this order, and often several at once.
“Did we make music?”
It's the question Abby asks after every lesson. Success isn't getting every note correct — it's musical flow, rhythm, expression, understanding, and creativity.
Abby’s teaching is built around audiation — the ability to hear and understand music internally, the way you might hear a familiar song in your mind even when nothing is playing.
Her curriculum, Music Moves for Piano, is based on Music Learning Theory, developed by Dr. Edwin Gordon — the foundation of her teaching for several years now.

Meet AbbyComplete beginners, adults returning after years away, and experienced players looking for a fresh approach are all welcome — with lessons that fit casual playing, repertoire, or lead sheets and improvisation.
Adult LessonsLessons happen in a warm home studio in southeast Grand Rapids — individualized, creative, and built around each student.
For young students, practice often means daily listening and short, frequent visits to the piano — exploring, creating, and getting comfortable with patterns — rather than long, perfect repetitions.
